Oh! Sire (e)
- Grandeur in the Brussels of king Leopold II -
The opening days of the Royal Greenhouses and the 100th anniversary of the death of
Leopold II (1835-1909) are a fitting occasion to cast a spotlight on this Brussels grandeur and the man who was its greatest patron.
Leopold II not only gave Brussels its Greenhouses. His partiality to large-scale projects, passion for urban beauty and devotion to the landscape has furnished Brussels with a host of magnificent skylines and monumental buildings. He transformed Brussels from a
provincial town to a genuine world city.
